APPLICATION FOR PROPERTY TAX RELIEF FOR MILITARY PERSONNEL
(Pursuant to the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Relief Act of 1940)

Military personnel deployed on active duty outside the continental United States are eligible to defer the payment of their taxes under the provisions of the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Civil Relief Act. Instead of the penalties, costs and fees imposed under the Illinois law, the unpaid taxes are subject only to interest at the rate of six per cent ( 6%) per annum. Military personnel have 180 days after deactivation to contact the Treasurer’s Office to make reasonable payment arrangements. This application form may be completed by the military service person, his/her adult dependent, or any other individual authorized by the service person to act on his/her behalf. Please complete the information below and file the form with the Madison County Treasurer’s Office. See this link for any questions about Military Relief Guidelines
